The A340-300 is a wide-body aircraft and a variant of the A340. The A340-300 is larger than the '200' but smaller than the '500' & '600' series. When it comes to seat capacity, the '300' is second only to the '600' series. The A340-300, like all A340s, is a four engine aircraft but is only one level as opposed to other aircraft with four engines. With four engines, this aircraft is losing popularity with airlines as two engine aircraft with similar or more capacity are quickly becoming more efficient to use over the A340. All A340 variants are no longer being produced. This aircraft is designed to fly long haul routes with medium to high demand.
