Fairchild was an aircraft designer that is now defunct. During it's history Fairchild had many names and associations with other aircraft manufacturers and designers. In the commercial aviation sector, they were well known for two aircraft; one was the Metroliner regional turboprop which they acquired from Swearingen and then subsequently produced. The other was the '328JET' regional jet that was designed and built when the company was designated Fairchild Dornier after the take over of the Dornier company.
