The ATR 72-200 is a turboprop aircraft and a variant of the ATR 72 series of aircraft. The ATR 72-200 is an lengthened version of the ATR 42 series of aircraft, and an improvement on the ATR 72-100 variant. Despite being the second variant, the -200 was the first to become popular amongst airlines. Like the De Havilland Canada Dash 8 turboprop aircraft, it has a straight wing (as opposed to a swept wing which is typically found on jet aircraft) and is designed for and used on regional to small routes with small to medium passenger demand. The ATR 72-200 is no longer in production.
