The DHC-8-100 (Dash 8 - Series 100) is a small regional turboprop aircraft designed by De Havilland Canada and is the first variant in the Dash 8 family of airplanes. The '100' indicates that it has the original engines and that it's the shortest variant. While turboprop aircraft are not has fast as regional jets, they are much more roughed and are ideal for smaller airports with shorter runways and limited facilities.
