The Embraer 170 or ERJ-170 is a member of the Embraer E-Jet family of planes and was the first variant produced. It is the smallest of the four variants and was the first aircraft design for Embraer having the engines mounted under the wing matching most common-day designs. The Embraer 170 has a lower seat count but compliments that with decent range allowing for varied missions including regional operations or long-range flights on lower demand routes. It primarily competes with the CRJ and DHC-8 type of aircraft.
