The Mitsubishi (formerly Bombardier & Canadair) CRJ-100(ER/LR) is the first variant of the 'CRJ' family of regional aircraft. A 'T' tailed type aircraft with rear mounted, turbofan engines on the fuselage, it was designed to offer better airspeed and flight times over other turbo-prop regional aircraft. The base sub-variant is the 'ER' which stands for 'Extended Range' while the other sub-variant is 'LR' meaning 'Long/Longer Range' which offers even greater range allowing the aircraft to fly longer routes. The CRJ-100(ER/LR) was quickly outdone by it's successor, the CRJ-200(ER/LR) meaning the number of examples built were small with very few, if any, still flying today.
